- Ready to move beyond garter and stockinette (stocking) stitch?
- Want to try your hand at knitting cables, lace, or color work, but not commit to a big project – yet?
- Want to add a little pizazz to a basic pattern?
Whether you are a new or seasoned knitter, you will find Stitch Club at The Fine Needle takes you to the next level of knitting!
You will be creating a reference library of knitted swatches of various stitch patterns. Each themed group contains at least three stitch patterns, complete with line by line instruction and charts where appropriate. At least one stitch pattern is suitable for beginner knitters, and there is at least one stitch pattern that is more challenging!
As a bonus, each stitch pattern sheet includes valuable information. Some stitches are ideal for a sturdier fabric; others are reversible. Stitch patterns are often transformed by using a larger or smaller needle size for the yarn. For some patterns, there are visual clues you find in the swatch that help you “read” your knitting so you know where you are in the pattern. These types of knitting tips and more are found on each swatch sheet!

This is a great way to use up bits of leftover yarn. Each swatch requires a small amount of yarn. You can “test” a stitch pattern with a type of yarn to see if the two are compatible. For instance, does that cable get lost in the variegated yarn you love? What size needle is best for that lace pattern using that light weight yarn?
One of the best ways to improve your knitting skills is to try new knitting techniques. There are many books that show page after page of stitch swatches, so many that it is often overwhelming to know where to begin! With Stitch Club, you will create your own reference book – three patterns at a time.
