Last week I mentioned that I was working on quite a number of things, and I thought I’d give you an update on my progress. Keeping you informed is really helping me get some things done (yes, as in completed!!).
This past week has been about sewing – oh there has been a bit of knitting, but LOTS of sewing!
- I finished the apron I started last week. Krista’s Apron is a free pattern from a great blog, Think Liz. Check out my version of her apron and from there you can follow links to her website and pattern. Liz also has an Etsy store (where she sells things she makes).
- I quilted the panel for the Advent Calendar and sewed on 6 of the buttons from which the ornaments will hang. Still have to bind the wall hanging and finish sewing on the remaining buttons.
- Table runner is in the same state as last week – still needs to be quilted.
In my world of knitting I’ve not abandoned the needles and yarn. I continue to work on Summit and have scheduled a knit-a-long in July. There will likely be another knit-a-long in the fall. I’m almost to the heel of my Algernon sock using Sock-a-licious. And yes, that’s the heel of the first sock.
I did start a new quilting project: The Tomato Quilt. Last Friday I blogged about a really cool program on the Victoria & Albert Museum’s website whereby you upload a photo and they magically turn it into a quilt pattern. Well, I’m about half-way through making the quilt top of my tomatoes quilt. My children (ages 6 & 9) were so fascinated by this process, that they each went off and found a photo to make into a quilt. Both chose their own fabrics and will begin sewing this week. I’ll keep you posted on their progress. We’re all having so much fun with this, that I’ve decided to organize a class. Details will be forthcoming shortly – stay tuned!
I also started and completed several sewing project since last Wednesday: 1 small apron for my 6 year old for when he “helps” me in the store, 5 pillowcases given away as gifts for teachers, and I helped a dear friend with some details on an adorable patchwork bag she made for her mother’s birthday.
All in all, I’d say I had a very productive week! Next week’s goal: more knitting!
